With the current generation Chevrolet Traverse starting to show its age, the bowtie brand has revealed a shadowy teaser image of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse ahead of its debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The current Traverse is roughly the size of the last generation GMC Acadia, but it looks like the 2018 iteration will be bigger than the current generation Acadia which debuted on a smaller wheelbase. Chevrolet claims that the bigger size will help the crossover offer best in class legroom for third row passengers as well as “maximum cargo space” though Chevrolet chose to wait until NAIAS to release formal figures.
Look for this big footprint to also allow the Traverse to haul eight passengers which should please families looking for maximum room and capability out of their CUV purchase. Performance hardware is currently unknown at this point, but expect the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse to come equipped with a base turbocharged four cylinder and a tweaked version of its familiar 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6. We suspect that the Traverse will not join the Equinox in embracing a diesel option due to the low take rate, as well as its bigger size.
Chevrolet will be formally unveiling the CUV online in a few weeks, before rolling it under the lights of Cobo Center. It will then make its way to dealer lots a few months later, with full pricing and other specifications being released closer to its formal launch.
